Kids Read community holds ‘managing your money’ event

Managing your money was the theme of a ‘Kids Read’ community event organised by HSBC and The British Council at the HSBC headquarters branch. 

More than 40 children and their parents took part in various activities to highlight the value of money. The family day included reading of three popular children’s stories, Happy Birthday Jamela by Niki Daly, The Great Pet Sale by Mick Inkpen and Master Money the Millionaire by Ahlberg and Amstutz.  All stories encouraged the children to think about issues related to money, including choosing how to spend it, and whether it can really buy happiness. 

In addition to the stories, the event included some hands-on activities. The children created their own money box and masks.  

Janice Trindade, Manager, Corporate Sustainability ,at HSBC in Qatar said: “HSBC is proud of its involvement and investment in community activities, especially those that support the development of young children and contribute to their better understanding of financial matters.”

Caroline Cameron from The British Council said, “reading and stories are a great medium for sharing important issues with children. We were delighted with the response from the children to both the stories and the related activities.” The Peninsula
