Washington: US President Donald Trump announced today that he would raise US tariffs on cars and trucks imported from the European Union next week.
The US president wrote in a post on the Truth Social platform, "based on the fact the European Union is not complying with our fully agreed to Trade Deal, next week I will be increasing Tariffs charged to the European Union for Cars and Trucks coming into the United States. The Tariff will be increased to 25 percent."
The US president accused the European Union of failing to adhere to a previous trade agreement, adding that "It is fully understood and agreed that, if they produce Cars and Trucks in USA Plants, there will be NO TARIFF."
"Many Automobile and Truck Plants are currently under construction, with over USD 100 Billion Dollars being invested, A RECORD in the History of Car and Truck Manufacturing," he added.
The US president affirmed that these Plants, staffed with American Workers, will be opening soon, stating that nothing like this has ever happened in America before.
