Probe into death at World Cup site underway: SC

DOHA: The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) said on Sunday that they were investigating the death of an Indian labourer at one of its sites.
Labourer Jaleshwar Prasad, 48, fell unconscious on Wednesdaywhile performing steel work at Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor, 50 km north of Doha, Reuters reported.

"Al Khor Hospital reported the cause of death as cardiac arrest," SC  said in a statement.

"The family of Mr Prasad were informed of the tragedy immediately. A full investigation is underway."

The full statement issued by SC:

“It is with deepest regret we confirm the death of 48-year-old Indian national Jaleshwar Prasad, a steel-worker employed on the Al Bayt Stadium project.

“Mr Prasad fell ill on-site around 9.30am on Wednesday, 27 April. He received first aid treatment until paramedics arrived. He was transferred to Al Khor Hospital but sadly passed away around 11.30am. Al Khor Hospital reported the cause of death as cardiac arrest. All relevant authorities were notified and a full investigation is underway.

“The family of Mr Prasad were informed of the tragedy immediately. The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy offers all necessary support to Mr Prasad's family. Our prayers and heart-felt condolences are with them at such a difficult time."
