Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) has announced the cancellation of its scheduled concerts on April 5 and April 11, citing unforeseen circumstances.

In a statement issued on their official social media accounts yesterday, the orchestra expressed regret over the decision but reassured patrons that all ticketholders will receive full refunds without delay.

To compensate music enthusiasts and bring joy to families, the QPO has organised four special family concerts on April 10 and 11. The programme will feature the timeless symphonic fairy tale Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev, presented in two languages to appeal to Qatar’s diverse community.

On April 10, audiences can enjoy Peter and the Wolf narrated in English, while the April 11 performances will be delivered in Arabic. Two shows will take place each day, conducted by QPO concertmaster Lyonel Schmit.

In a move to encourage family attendance, ticket prices have been significantly reduced, making the concerts accessible to parents and children alike. Ticket sale links will be shared shortly via the orchestra’s official channels.

The QPO, a cornerstone of Qatar’s vibrant cultural landscape under the Qatar Foundation, regularly enriches the nation’s artistic scene with world-class performances. These upcoming family concerts reflect the orchestra’s commitment to inclusive programming that fosters appreciation for classical music among younger generations.

Families and music lovers are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates. For any queries regarding refunds or the new family concerts, the public may contact the QPO Box Office at [email protected].

The orchestra thanked its loyal supporters for their understanding and looked forward to welcoming them to the upcoming Peter and the Wolf performances at its usual venue in Doha.
