Jerusalem: A Palestinian stabbed and wounded a settler whose home he broke into in the occupied West Bank before the Israeli shot him dead, the army said Wednesday.
The identity of the Palestinian was not immediately available. A military spokeswoman said the attack took place in Teneh Omarim, south of Hebron. The settler, 33, suffered light stab wounds to his limbs.
Since a wave of violence broke out in October 2015, 253 Palestinians, 41 Israelis, two Americans, a Jordanian, an Eritrean and a Sudanese have died.
Most of the Palestinians killed were carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks, according to the Israeli authorities, while others were killed during protests, clashes or Israeli air raids on Gaza.
The violence has declined sharply in recent months.
Many of the attacks took place in the Hebron area.
