Qatar to attend knowledge economy forum in Kuwait

Doha: Qatar will take part in a conference ‘Contemporary Functions of States from a Knowledge Economy Perspective’ to be held in Kuwait from today.
The Qatari delegation will be led by Minister of Development Planning and Statistics H E Dr Saleh Mohamed Al Nabit.
The two-day forum aims to highlight the most distinctive contemporary administrative and economic functions from the perspective of knowledge economy to develop the concept of development plan consistent with the perspective and help build a knowledge environment conducive to the transition to the knowledge economy.
It includes six sessions to raise awareness among people and educational institutions about the importance of adopting the concept of knowledge economy and methods leading to the transition to the concept of the knowledge economy to develop policies to diversify income sources, increase job opportunities and reduce the burden on states’ budgets.
International experts in the fields of knowledge economy, innovation and economic development will provide intellectual environment that promotes the forum’s goals to develop perceptions on ways to diversify sources of income, improve the business environment, develop education system, take advantage of the country’s development and optimise the concept of knowledge.
The forum is organised by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development in Kuwait, in cooperation with the Arab Planning Institute, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme.
