Doha: The two-day “Economic Diversification in the Gulf States: Opportunities and Challenges” conference, organised by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, concluded Sunday with the participation of 16 researchers and economic experts.

The second-day sessions focused on “the impact of regional and foreign resources in promoting economic diversification in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states” and the experience of the State of Qatar in economic diversification.

One of the conference sessions witnessed the presentation of a research paper entitled “Economic diversification: a strategy and an introduction to achieving sustainable development - the State of Qatar as a model.” The paper reviewed the State of Qatar’s effort to adopt a new strategy for economic diversification based on productivity and competitiveness, explaining that this strategy led to the enhancement and sustainability of the economic diversification path, the development of the private sector, and the enhancement of its contribution to the Qatari economy.

Another paper titled “Successful establishment of resilient supply chains creates the potential for further successful diversification of the economy: Qatar as a model” discussed Qatar’s strategies for economic diversification.
